TITLE(s): DIVISION ROAD SUPERVISOR (r.r. trans.)
Directs and coordinates through supervisory personnel activities of railroad engine crews to
ensure efficient operation of railroad in specified jurisdictions: Interviews engine crew personnel
to evaluate workers' knowledge of operating and train-handling rules and of railroad route
characteristics, such as locations and meanings of signals and types of grades on routes. Rides
trains and observes personnel to determine conformance to regulations governing matters, such as
train signals, train timetables, and emergency procedures. Determines speed of trains, using radar
gun and electrical speed-recording device, and documents detected violations. Conducts
investigations of train wrecks to determine causes, to assess equipment damage, to identify
personnel responsible, and issues reports of findings.
