statistics Directs collection, recording, and tabulation of vital statistics and implementation of special statistical studies required by state government: Directs activities of workers engaged in compiling statistical data, such as births, deaths, marriages, incidence of various diseases, and supplementary material. Formulates procedures for converting raw data into statistical form, according to knowledge of accepted statistical analysis procedures. Conducts special studies on request from legislative officials, private organizations, and other interested groups, by defining dimensions of study, size of statistical sampling, data collection procedures, and methods of presenting findings. Develops and implements, through subordinates, procedures for registration and certification of births, marriages, and similar occurrences in communities throughout state.
