Turns control knobs to set speed of lathe and feed speed of carriage according to chart. Makes trial run and measures dimensions of first piece for conformance to blueprint specifications. May set up automatic spinning lathe equipped with special forming tools to shape, trim, or form knurls or beads on workpiece and be designated Setter, Automatic-Spinning-And-Beading-Lathe (any industry).
