CODE: 85717B TITLE: Test Card and Circuit Board Repairers DEFINITION: Replace and realign broken, worn, or misaligned probes on probe test cards and repair defective surfaces and circuitry on printed circuit boards. TASKS: 1. Repairs defective circuitry and board surface faults, using hand tools and soldering or welding equipment. 2. Removes, replaces, and re-solders defective wiring and probes, using tweezers and soldering iron. 3. Cuts and removes defective wires on PCB's, using knife. 4. Observes probe card through microscope and aligns probes in specified position over test wafer, using tweezers. 5. Aligns probes on even plane, using tweezers and test equipment. 6. Positions replacement wire on circuit, using magnetic tweezers, and positions PCB's under microscope to examine circuitry. 7. Reads specification sheets, manuals, and diagrams to determine probe card wiring and probe positions. 8. Inspects probe cards, using microscope, to detect defects, and examines boards to determine that repairs meet specifications. 9. Reads work orders to determine number of PCB's to be repaired, type of repairs, and method and tools required. 10. Washes solder or liquid gold over specified areas to restore board surfaces. 11. Cleans repaired boards with solvent, using brush and rags. 12. Places PCB's in industrial oven to cure solder mask. 13. Maintains repair, replacement, probe, production, and inventory records, using computer.
