TITLE: Carpet Cutters, Diagrammers, and Seamers
DEFINITION: Measure, mark, cut, and seam carpets or rugs to specific diagrams and dimensions for buildings. Include workers who cut linoleum. Exclude workers who install as well as cut carpet.
1. Measures and marks floor covering according to diagrammed instructions or floor dimensions, using measuring tools and chalkline.
2. Cuts lengths from floor-covering roll, using cutting tool.
3. Seams edges using glue, putty knife, and webbing tape.
4. Positions cut sections upside down to match edges to be seamed.
5. Computes area surface of sections needed to determine cutting lines.
6. Unrolls floor covering on floor.
7. Clips uneven pile yarn along seams, using electric clipper, to make seams invisible.
8. Compares diagram with uncut floor covering to estimate shape of required rug, and visualizes order and manner sections should be joined.
9. Reads instructions to determine floor covering product to be cut.
10. Rerolls floor covering to be returned to storage and rolls up cut floor covering for further handling.
