Pours liquid or powdered insulating material into mold to form insulation for electric motor, generator, and switchgear mechanisms: Weighs specified amounts of plaster, cement, metallic, or plastic powders, dumps ingredients into mixing machine, and starts machine. Positions assemblies, such as contact arms, collector rings, rotor shaft coils, and core assemblies, into mold cavity or molding jig, using spacer blocks and pilot pins. Pours mixture into mold and allows mixture to set in hydraulic press or harden in furnace. Removes assembly from mold or jig and scrapes hardened insulation with knife and rasp to trim to specified size. Cuts, bends, shapes, and bolts together pieces of metal to adapt or improvise assembly fixtures to hold parts in mold. May touch leads to meter and observe dial readings to test assembly for electrical continuity. May be designated according to type of material used as Plaster-Of-Paris Molder (elec. equip.) or product insulated as Transformer Molder (elec. equip.).
