About The DOT Web Site

My interest in the DOT first began in developing computer software for US immigration.

I developed DOT for Windows in 1994, as part of "Immigration Assistant", for use by immigration lawyers, who needed DOT data for employment related immigration applications.

In the process, I also created the DOT alphabetical index web site, https://theodora.com/dot_index.html, consisting of 110 pages, each with a list of job codes and titles in a part of the alphabet.

That web site, the first of its kind, was widely indexed and linked, and quickly became very popular.

The current version, in occupationalinfo.org, is an extension of that original web site. I have converted all the job codes in the original DOT pages into links, which lead to individual job description pages.

Additionaly, I added the table of contents, with all the ancillary pages of the original books, and cascading menus of the job categories.
